Pets Deserve Comfy Hotels, too.

That’s why the 3,700-acre Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah—a desert menagerie of over 1,000 creatures awaiting new homes—built Best Friends Roadhouse and Mercantile, a hotel designed especially to house animals and their human sidekicks.

The Sanctuary’s 30,000 annual visitors can now choose from 40 Roadhouse rooms and suites with creature comforts including double-door pet entries and cozy snuggle nooks. “This is one hotel where you can literally be put in the doghouse,” says Best Friends hospitality manager Brooks Bradbury. Eight suites have a built-in doghouse, but every room is outfitted with pet sleeping quarters tucked into the bed frame.

At Mercantile there’s chow for bipeds and those on four legs, while the fenced water park ensures a rowdy time and the fuzz-taming laundry station aids in clean up. They’ve even reserved two rooms for the most persnickety guests of all: felines. —Laura Beausire
